Matrix Design&Build - Contemporary

“I change my kitchen as often as people change their cars” -
Now that’s a pretty bold statement from Geoff George, Managing Director of Matrix Design & Build but when you view some of the kitchens he has designed and installed, you will realize what drives him. “There is just so much choice and with the economy the way it is, clients are spoilt for choice and we can leverage a good deal from cabinet manufacturers.”

Geoff is passionate about kitchens & bathrooms so when faced with the challenge to design, manufacture and install a ‘no compromise’ contemporary kitchen in Loughton, Essex, Geoff approached the project with aplomb. “Working with Leena and Rakesh was easy – they knew what they wanted but needed some direction in terms of design, layout and functionality.” The result was stunning German, handless, streamlined cabinetry that maximized the space available. The worktops were supplied by Corian and central to the kitchen is a wow factor breakfast bar which has become the focal point of the home.

To achieve the space required for such a generous kitchen, no less than six structural steels were placed on brick built piers that totally transformed the area; the steels were hidden in ceiling voids and do not impact upon the ceiling expanse.

The design incorporated top of the range Siemen’s IQ700 appliances including steam and fan ovens, an extremely generous American style fridge freezer and hot water on tap. The design also includes a tambour unit which conveniently houses the kettle and toaster – out of sight but easily accessible.

“Throughout the remodeling of our home, we always thought the Cinema Room would be where all our friends would congregate [due to the 64” Panasonic and Denon/Monitor Audio Dolby 5.1 AV system, also designed and installed by Matrix Design & Build] but the Kitchen/Diner is where we all get together – good company, good food and a lovely area for family and friends to relax. Geoff really does know what he is doing and we let him make some big decisions for us in terms of design. We love our kitchen and wouldn’t change a thing about it.”
