Loft living in Central London

A loft space in a Central London terraced home proved a real challenge to convert. With a planning application in place, various layouts and interior design were discussed and agreed.

“The loft space hadn’t been touched for years and after some initial concept drawings, a design was agreed with our clients and a ten week schedule implemented” says Max Patel, Architect with Matrix Design & Build.

Our clients wanted a bright, mature and opulent feel to the space which would serve as a retreat from the chaos of the pedestrians and traffic of Marylebone.

“We still wanted to look out onto Marylebone so the sash windows incorporated into the design worked well. It is actually really quiet in the loft, even in the middle of the day” comments Sylvia and Kalvin. “We love our loft and it really is a haven...we spend so much time here just relaxing and unwinding...it has brought a new dimension to our home.”

A key design feature is a large Velux dome which floods light into the room over the central seating area.

And the pool table was brought into the property in sections – it is a slate bed 6ft 6in table and is very, very heavy!
